Biographical Information
Cloth & Chocolate (CC) is a diverse group of women, dedicated to exploring the artistic aspects of their quiltmaking. Their goals are to contribute to contemporary fiber arts, to display and sell their works and to teach others. The individual members are:
Marina Baudoin - Professional Quilter Marina uses ethnic fabrics and vibrant colors as her inspiration. Exhibitor at American Quilters Society, Machine Quilters Exhibit, Friendship Star Quilt Show. Commission work for quilts.
Twila Blume - Information Technology Specialist Color, texture, and connections to personal experience inspire my textile compositions. Award winner Friendship Star Quilt Show 2006 Exhibitor at Friendship Star Quilt Show, Hoffman Challenge
Ruth Cohen – Quilt Teacher and retired System Analyst Ruth interprets her travels in many of her quilts. Exhibitor at International Quilt Festival, American Quilter’s Society, Southern Maryland Quilt and Needlework Show, Sotterly Plantation, MD, Sandy Spring Museum, George Washington University Hospital, Strathmore Center for the Arts, Jewish Community Center for Greater Washington Commission work for quilts and wearable art
Anne Harmon Datko – – Textile Artist and retired Scientific Research Administrator Anne uses the pattern and colors of fabric to guide each design. Exhibitor at the International Quilt Festival, Tactile Architecture, Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, Creative Crafts Council, and Tribute to Fiber Art at BlackRock Center for the Arts. Published in Quilters’ Newsletter magazine, in K. Bresenham’s Creative Quilting: The Journal Quilt Project, and in R. Gillman’s Create Your Own Hand-printed Cloth.
Melinda Lowy – Scientific Educator Melinda uses a wide variety of materials and surface design techniques in developing her art. Exhibited at Ross Art Museum, BlackRock Center for the Arts,
Popcorn Gallery at Glen Echo, US Botanical Garden, C. William Gilchrist Museum,
Creative Crafts Council, American Quilters Society and International Quilt Festival.
Judy Lundberg – Graphic Artist, Quilt Teacher and Lecturer Judy explores innovative uses of color and shape. Published in L. Smith’s Machine Quiltmaking, F. Labanaris’ Quilts With a View, and C. Margreta Silverstone –Child Welfare Information Technology Executive Consultant Margreta explores motion and color in semi‑realistic designs. Linda Syverson-Guild – Registered Architect Linda’s architectural education is reflected in the color, linear and geometric expression found in her work. Winner of Judge’s Choice Award in the “Century of Progress Competition” displayed as part of a group at the Allentown Art Museum, Ft. Washington Quilt Exhibition and Pacific International Quilt Exhibition Honorable Mention in the “From the Mill Competition,” displayed at the American Textile History Museum, Lowell, MA Commissioned work
