The discovery of art quilts some ten years ago has led me to
a world of exploration in fiber. I have since experimented with many styles (abstract,
representational, landscape) and techniques (fabric dyeing, painting, stamping,
raw-edge applique). But my greatest pleasure is in building fabric collages
using the amazing commercial fabric now available. I combine one fabric with
another, sometimes adding a touch of a hand-dyed fabric, but always letting the
patterns and colors lead me. Free-motion quilting gives the piece another dimension
and beads, couching and other embellishments are the finishing touches. And, the amazing thing is
that there is always another piece of fabric waiting to serve as inspiration.
